MANILA, Philippines--Gilas Pilipinas will try to take another step toward an 18th basketball gold in the Southeast Asian Games when it takes on Indonesia in the semifinals at Mall of Asia Arena on Monday night.

Game time is at 8:15 p.m.

The Philippines was untouchable in the elimination round, winning its games by an average margin of 54 points.

But the Filipinos are not taking Indonesia lightly, especially with former Gilas Pilipinas coach Rajko Toroman calling the shots for visitors.

"We all know how good (Toroman) is," said Gilas coach Tim Cone, who considers the Serbian a good friend.

"We know how disciplined his teams are, they play with great discipline, usually very good shooting teams."

Indonesia was expected to give the Philippines a run for its money in the SEA Games, but its inability to lock down a naturalized player ahead of the tournament hampered their bid. A 98-76 loss to Thailand in their first game also put Indonesia in a tough position in the semis, as Toroman and co. were immediately matched up against the Philippines.

Cone knows that Gilas will still be the favorite against Indonesia, a team that settled for silver in the 2017 edition of the biennial event.

"We're used to that at this point," he said. "We'll go out and get 'em."

In the other semifinal pairing, Thailand takes on Vietnam at 3:45 p.m. The Thais swept Group B, and will hope to face off against the Philippines in the gold medal game.
