MANILA—Sibol’s representatives to hit PC game Defense of the Ancients 2 dominated the group stages to open their title campaign in the Southeast Asian Games at FilOil Flying V Center on Saturday.

Sibol took the top seed with a 1-1 win against Myanmar, bucking a slow start in Game 1 to pull through.

The Philippines leveled with Myanmar earlier in Game 1, but the visitors made a good start to hand the Philippines its first game loss.

The hosts later on salvaged a victory and forced a tie to lead the group stages.

Parading players mostly from Cebu-based team Adroit, Sibol swept Laos 2-0 in their tournament opener.

They followed that up with another sweep, this time of Indonesia with the same score.

Sibol sat atop the DoTA 2 Group B stages, with 5 wins and one loss to move up to the upper bracket, increasing its chances of a SEA Games podium finish.
