MANILA—Just as they were a few kills behind Vietnam in the lower bracket finals of the Southeast Asian Games Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, the Philippines found the right answers at the right time, eventually assuring its members of a medal.

But the team on Friday said the fight was far from over.

Allan Sancio “Lusty” Castromayor said his teammates want to prove they can upend their opponents on Sunday and eventually strike gold.

“Kaya namin kunin ’yung gold medal. Papatunayan namin,” said Castromayor, who led a vital play in Game 2 of their series sweep against Vietnam.

Sibol on Sunday will face Malaysia, which was booted in the upper bracket after being swept by Indonesia in the final round, for at least a silver finish in the tournament.

If Sibol wins, the team faces Indonesia, which parades a squad made up of players coming off the inaugural Mobile Legends M1 World Championship in Kuala Lumpur.

Castromayor said the home team will use its rest day to plot its game plan, despite a disadvantage coming from the lower bracket.

The Philippines drew Indonesia in the group stages last Friday, 1-1.
