Leaving nothing to chance, Creamline clipped Adamson with a kind of game it expects to dish out in the next round, posting a lopsided 25-7, 25-11, 25-10 result to nail the top seed in the final 4 of the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Open Conference in Batangas City Saturday night.

Creamline star Alyssa Valdez has time and again stressed the need for the Cool Smashers to build momentum heading to the semis and they did just that, winning their last two matches via sweep, including against No. 4 PetroGazz Angels (8-6), whom they will meet in the best-of-three semis starting Wednesday at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

Earlier, BanKo-Perlas eked out a 25-22, 25-19, 29-31, 11-25, 15-11 victory over Tacloban to finish tied for first with Creamline at 11-3.

But the Cool Smashers took the No. 1 spot with a higher tiebreak than the Perlas Spikers, who will dispute the other finals berth with Ateneo-Motolite (10-4) in their own best-of-three semis.

Unrelenting in offense and unforgiving in defense, the Cool Smashers dominated the Lady Falcons from the opening serve, pouring in 11 attack points against three of their rivals and coming through with four aces while scoring seven points off Adamson-Akari’s errors.

It was more of the same in the next two frames with the Cool Smashers blasting in power hits and piling up points on combination plays while cashing in on the Lady Falcons’ sloppy service reception for aces with Fille Cainglet-Cayetano wrapping the easy win with a drop shot.
