Kiefer Ravena and Christian Standhardinger -- holdovers from the gold-winning side in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games -- were named part of the Philippines men's national basketball team that will play in this year's regional competition.
Gilas Pilipinas head coach Tim Cone made the announcement on Friday night, also calling up Japeth Aguilar, June Mar Fajardo, Roger Pogoy and Troy Rosario to join fellow 2019 FIBA World Cup veteran Ravena.
Completing the squad are Marcio Lassiter, Vic Manuel, Stanley Pringle, Chris Ross, LA Tenorio and Matthew Wright, with Alfrancis Chua appointed as team adviser.
"Although the decision was surely not easy, the SBP have complete trust in the team and we're excited to defend our crown as the best basketball team in the region," Al Panlilio said in a statement.
Panlilio is the president of the SBP, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, the sport's national governing body.
Ravena, a late addition to the team following the departure of Jayson Castro due to injury, is eyeing a fifth gold medal in as many appearances in the Games.
The national team, coming off a humiliating finish in the World Cup in China in September, looks to redeem itself in a tournament it has dominated for the longest time.
The Filipinos open the Games against Singapore on Dec. 4, followed by games against Vietnam and Myanmar on Dec. 6 and 7.
