Alyssa Valdez played through pain in her right ankle to power Creamline past Tacloban, 25-16, 25-16, 26-24, and return in the win column Wednesday in the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Open Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The Cool Smashers star limped out of the court in the second set before heroically returning in the third to carry her team from a 19-23 deficit to a resounding sweep as Creamline improved to a 7-2 win-loss record, tied with BanKo at second spot behind Ateneo-Motolite (9-2).

Valdez finished with game-high 17 points off 10 attacks, five aces and a couple of kill blocks laced with 11 digs for the Cool Smashers, who recovered from a five-set loss to the Lady Eagles two weeks ago.
