It wasn’t the start defending champion Creamline wanted but the Cool Smashers only needed a little time to heat up before blasting Motolite, 18-25, 25-24, 25-21, 25-14, on Saturday to move a step closer in the Finals of the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Open Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Creamline struggled in the opening set with its adjustment with the return of top hitter Alyssa Valdez, who missed four straight games because of a foot injury and her participation in the national team’s Japan training, and setter Jia Morado.

But once the Cool Smashers got their groove going, it didn’t take long for the repeat-seeking squad to keep its unbeaten run going to draw first blood in the best-of-three series.

Creamline can clinch the Finals seat on Sunday.
