MANILA, Philippines -- After a shaky start to the UAAP Season 82 men's basketball tournament, the Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws are marching their way towards the Final 4.
They held on for a tight 63-60 triumph over Adamson University on Wednesday, giving them a 7-6 win-loss record. The win was FEU's fifth in their last seven games, with their two defeats coming against Ateneo de Manila University and National University.
"Obviously, we're happy with the win, our 7th," said FEU head coach Olsen Racela after their victory. "But actually, we haven't done anything yet."
FEU is still in full control of its fate, but the Tamaraws need to take care of business against University of the East (UE) on Sunday in order to ensure that they are in the driver's seat for a Final 4 spot.
The game against the Red Warriors will be FEU's third assignment in a week, but Racela is not one to complain about their packed schedule.
"Sa tingin ko nakabuti nga sa amin ang ganoong schedule eh, because we gained momentum," he said.
"Gumanda kami, and we're peaking at the right time, I think, with the schedule that we have," he added.
Wanting to make sure that his team's fine run continues, Racela said after their win that the Tamaraws "have no reason, really, to celebrate."
Instead, they return to work immediately on Thursday, with their final elimination round game against UE in mind.
"We just have to prepare hard against UE, dahil ang UE really has nothing to lose," he pointed out.
