Filipino-Japanese sumo wrestler Mitakeumi Hisashi beat Takakeisho in a playoff to win the title in the Autumn Grand Sumo Tournament at Ryogoku Kokugikan Sumo Hall in Tokyo recently.
It was Hisashi’s second time to take home the Emperor's Cup.
According to Japan Times, he first won the title in July 2018.
Hisashi, who was also awarded the Outstanding Performance Prize, was born to a Japanese father and a Filipino mother.
The 26-year-old, currently ranked sekiwake, wants to become an ozeki, the sport's second-highest rank.
He will next compete in the Kyushu Grand Sumo Tournament in Fukuoka this November.
