Basketball: Beermen down Japanese club to reach Macau tilt semis

Dez Wells and Terrence Romeo led San Miguel Beer to a 101-92 win over Japanese club Ryukyu Golden Kings on Thursday to reach the semifinals of the East Asia League Terrific 12 basketball tournament in Macau.

American reinforcement Wells finished with 42 points, while 2019 PBA Commissioner's Cup finals MVP Romeo added 18 in the Beermen's win at Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion.

With its second victory in a row, San Miguel topped Group B to set up a semifinal meeting with former NBA veteran Lance Stephenson and Chinese club Liaoning Flying Leopards on Saturday.

Meanwhile, KJ McDaniels tallied 47 points and 17 rebounds, as TNT downed Japan’s Niigata Albirex 99-90, exiting the tournament on a high note.

Roger Pogoy led TNT (1-1) with 27 points.
