FOSHAN, China—Kapamilya star Billy Crawford just has one message for the Filipinos ahead of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup: "Magkaisa tayo."
Crawford traveled all the way to this city to watch the Philippines compete in the tournament, and expressed his excitement about Gilas Pilipinas' game against Italy on Saturday.
"I'm here to support my country, Gilas. This is my first game and I'm so happy. I'm really, really, excited man, it's going to be an epic, epic game tomorrow," he said.
Gilas is expected to be the underdog against an Italian team that is ranked 13th in the world, and features a pair of NBA players in Oklahoma City's Danilo Gallinari and San Antonio's Marco Belinelli.
But the underdog tag has never fazed Gilas, and Crawford takes the same mentality.
"Well, it's better to be the underdog kasi all eyes are on us, and it's time to prove them wrong, you know. The story of David, that's all we have to remember," he said.
