As its reinforcement for the season-ending PBA Governors' Cup, TNT is bringing in forward KJ McDaniels, who once played for the Houston Rockets in the NBA.

McDaniels, 26, was a Rockets teammate of Terrence Jones, who won Best Import in the 2019 Commissioner's Cup playing for TNT.

He played in 5 seasons in the NBA, averaging 5.3 points and 14.1 minutes in 148 career games.

McDaniels also played for the Philadelphia 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets. He won the NBA Summer League MVP suiting up for the Portland Trailblazers, but did not make the season roster.

TNT coaching consultant Mark Dickel said that with McDaniels, the team hopes to duplicate or even surpass the success they had with Jones.

“We just have to play a little different, obviously, go back offensively and do some different stuff, and just build on our defensive platform that we've got,” Dickel said in an article posted on ABS-CBN Sports

“He [McDaniels] already comes in on (August 24). As soon as we get him acclimated, it goes again.”
