MANILA – (UPDATED) TNT's prolific reinforcement, Terrence Jones, has won the Best Import award for the 2019 PBA Commissioner's Cup.
Jones was awarded the trophy ahead of Game 4 of their best-of-7 Finals series against the San Miguel Beermen on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.
Jones, the 18th pick in the 2012 NBA Rookie Draft, was spectacular for TNT in the conference. He averaged 30.2 points, 15.7 rebounds, 7.5 assists, 2.8 blocks, and 1.5 steals per game for the KaTropa through the semifinals, and his 58.2 SPs led all imports.
With him leading the way, TNT went 10-1 in the elimination round and claimed the top seed. They are now eyeing a 3-1 lead in the Finals against San Miguel, to close in on the Commissioner's Cup title.
The 27-year-old Jones won the award ahead of Barangay Ginebra's Justin Brownlee, San Miguel's Chris McCullough, and Rain or Shine's Carl Montgomery.
Jones only had a slight lead over Brownlee in terms of statistics, but was the landslide winner of the media votes, and also got the most player votes.
The former Houston Rocket finished with a total of 1,254, while Brownlee had 882. McCullough had 729 points, and Montgomery brought up the rear with 399.
