MANILA, Philippines—San Miguel Beer import Chris McCullough is already looking forward to Game 4 of their 2019 PBA Commissioner's Cup semifinals series against Rain Or Shine, after seeing a tremendous performance in Game 3 go for naught.
McCullough exploded for 51 points on 18-of-32 shooting, while also grabbing 14 rebounds. He had 31 points in the first half that allowed the Beermen to recover from an 18-point deficit.
But for the first time in the best-of-5 series, San Miguel could not complete the come-from-behind win. Veterans Gabe Norwood and Beau Belga nailed huge triples in the clutch, allowing Rain Or Shine to hack out a 112-104 win and send the series to a fourth game.
"I'm not gonna say it was wasted. I played a tough game, played a hard game. We just didn't win the game," said McCullough of his performance.
McCullough hinted at "bad calls" that cost them, but noted that the Beermen "just didn't finish the game."
To get the job done in Game 4, McCullough is exhorting his teammates to be "locked in."
"Once you step in the arena, you know, just lock in. Just get ready, prepare for the game, you know, go to practice tomorrow, prepare for the game on Friday, that's it," he said.
"Go get a win. Come focused."
Alex Cabagnot had 16 points, and Christian Standhardinger added 14 points and 11 rebounds to back up McCullough. But Chris Ross, who had a career-high 34 points in Game 2, was limited to just 6 this time around. June Mar Fajardo only scored 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
