Paeng Nepomuceno, considered one of the best bowlers of all time, made a rare public appearance at SM Megamall on Wednesday.

Bowling's only 4-time World Cup champion, Nepomuceno took time off from his duties as national team head coach to support a public exhibit this week meant to promote the accomplishments of some government departments.

Nepomuceno indulged requests for autographs and photo opportunities from fans who gathered at the booth of the Philippine Sports Commission, the government body in charge mainly of providing resources to amateur sports associations.

Nepomuceno has won scores of trophies both locally and internationally, as well as dozens of medals honoring a career that began in the 1970s and came into prominence when he won his first World Cup in 1976 as a 19-year-old.

He is currently preparing the national bowling team that will compete in next month's Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur.
