Stanley Pringle scored 18 points to lead Barangay Ginebra to an 85-79 victory over Magnolia on Saturday to take a 1-0 lead in their quarterfinals series in the 2019 PBA Commissioner's Cup.

Ginebra can wrap up the series on Tuesday.

Justin Brownlee scored a triple to break a 77-all tie with less than 5 minutes to go in the game, then Ginebra limited Magnolia to just a field goal in the same stretch to come away with victory.

A Pringle bucket and a 3-point play by Greg Slaughter gave the defending champions enough cushion late.

Brownlee finished with 20 points and 16 rebounds, while Japeth Aguilar contributed 14 points.

Paul Lee registered a game-high 24 points, while Rakeem Christmas chipped in 18 points and 14 rebounds.
