Local sports personalities expressed their disappointment following the House franchise committee's decision to deny ABS-CBN from securing a new franchise.
The network airs some of most popular local leagues, including the University Athletic Association of the Philippines, the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the Premier Volleyball League, and Sen. Manny Pacquiao's Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.
It also has a broadcast partnership with mixed martial arts promotion, ONE Championship.
This is why some of these sports personalities took to social media to throw their support behind the network, after receiving news that a 70-11 vote shot down its franchise bid.
Former UAAP star and TV personality Gretchen Ho was heartbroken.
Cha Soriano, former Ateneo Lady Eagle and Beach Volleyball Republic founder, said the development was "disheartening".
"To our kapamilyas, let us together find light in this darkness. We are with you. This, too, shall pass. #NoToABSCBNFranchiseDenial."
Former Lady Eagle Alyssa Valdez summed up her feelings in one word.
Former PBA player and Magnolia deputy coach Jason Webb offered an incendiary take on the issue.
"NAKAKAPANGHINA," said 3-time UAAP best setter and part of Ateneo's Fab 5 Jem Ferrer.
Fellow Lady Eagle Jia Morado said she looks forward to the 2022 election.
University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers team captain CJ Cansino used hashtags to make his thoughts known.
