MANILA, Philippines -- Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) commissioner Willie Marcial will meet with the league's head coaches and team managers on Friday to explain the league's protocols when teams return to practice.

The Inter-Agency Task Force last week gave the PBA teams permission to begin training again, nearly four months after the league stopped all of its activities due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Marcial had already met with PBA players last June 23, with the stars unanimous in their desire to return to action.

"Ang first step, coaches meeting kami and team managers meeting sa Friday para kausapin sila regarding sa protocols, comments, suggestions, at kung ano pa madadagdag nila," Marcial said, as quoted by the league website.

Following this, there will be a board meeting from Saturday through Monday. Marcial hopes to begin practices in two weeks' time.

The league wants to restart its All-Filipino Cup by October, with the Board of Governors making a final decision on the fate of the PBA's 45th season in August.

"Ang mahalaga, pag-start natin, pagpalagay mo ng July 22, kailangan umandar na," said Marcial. "Kasi 'yung mga kontrata, kailangan mag-renew ka ng contract (ng players) within five days."

The PBA crafted strict protocols for teams to follow when they return to practices, where only four players, one coach, and one health officer are allowed to be on the court.

Scrimmages are forbidden, and the personnel of all 12 teams have to undergo COVID-19 testing, with results submitted three days before practices start again.
