Blackwater head coach Aris Dimaunahan has all the reasons to celebrate after turning things around for his team, but he’s aware the mission isn’t over yet.

“The work doesn’t stop there. Kailangang mag-climb up pa. We always believe that the deeper you go in the conference, the harder it is to win games,” Dimaunahan said in an interview posted on ABS-CBN Sports after Blackwater downed Magnolia 104-99 on Friday.

The win, Blackwater’s sixth in 9 games, catapulted Dimaunahan’s squad into the playoffs, months after the Elite finished 12th and bottom of the Philippine Cup.

“I’m very happy for our franchise,” Dimaunahan said in his first PBA playoff appearance as top shot-caller, a position he inherited from Bong Ramos in April

“From last conference na dead last kami, it’s a testament of how much the management is will to help out and the players also to help each other out to get to the playoffs,” the former Barangay Ginebra bench player added.

Blackwater next plays TNT on Sunday, July 7, before wrapping up the preliminaries against Alaska on July 14.

If they both and the math works in their favor, Dimaunahan and his crew could even secure a twice-to-beat advantage.

“The more we need to be disiplinado and the more na team basketball dapat nilalaro namin kasi we’ll be facing tougher and tougher games ahead of us,” he said.
