MANILA (UPDATE)—Local favorite Bren Esports fell in the lower bracket playoffs of the Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup at Araneta Coliseum Saturday.

Overclockers hammered Bren 2-0, spoiling Bren's hometown advantage, as the Vietnam squad countered Bren's aggressiveness in the last game.

Overclockers also notched an advantage by getting the early kills at Bren's expense, led by Taku's Kadita who ran away with the match MVP award.

Bren's lineup choice in the clincher round had haunted them in the end, with choice to include a healer in the lineup regarded questionable by some spectators.

Bren was coming off a sweep against Indonesian squad Team Resolution 2-0 on Friday.

Before that, Bren figured in a 1-1 tie with Thailand squad IDNS and Malaysian-based Squad Geek Fam in the group stage.
