The NLEX Road Warriors finally picked up a win after 6 straight losses by thwarting a furious fight back by the Meralco Bolts on Wednesday in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup at Mall of Asia Arena.

Tony Mitchell registered 32 points, 20 rebounds and 4 assists, while new acquisition Jericho Cruz came up with 16 points including 2 3-pointers to go with 6 assists to assure the Road Warriors’ 100-91.

But it wasn’t an easy win for NLEX, which saw its 23-point lead nearly wiped out when Meralco pulled to within 4 points midway in the fourth quarter.

Gani Lawal, who was pulled out of the injury list, paced the Bolts with 15 points and 14 rebounds. They also got 14 points each from Chris Newsome and Nico Salva.

But their collective effort was not enough to offset Mitchell’s double-double night.

It was the third straight loss for the Bolts, who fell to 3-5.

The scores:

NLEX 100 - Mitchell 32, Cruz 16, Galanza 13, Paniamogan 8, Quinahan 7, Erram 7, Ighalo 6, Varilla 4, Lao 4, Tiongson 3, Paredes 0, Soyud 0.
