Diana Taurasi of the Phoenix Mercury became the new leading scorer in WNBA history on Sunday (Monday in Manila) after scoring 19 points in a loss to the Los Angeles Sparks.

Taurasi's lay-up with 45 seconds left in the first half allowed her to pass Tina Thompson's record of 7,488 points.

The game was stopped as players from both teams honored Taurasi, who was also given the game ball. Also paying tribute to "DT" was NBA legend Kobe Bryant, who watched the game at the Staples Center with his two daughters.

Taurasi has now scored 7,494 points since making her WNBA debut in 2004. She has won three WNBA titles with Phoenix, the last of which was in 2014.

Praise continued to pour in for Taurasi after the game, with Bryant, Kevin Durant, and LeBron James among the NBA stars who tweeted their praise.

The Sparks won the game, 90-59, with Candace Parker and Nneka Ogwumike combining for 35 points.
