MANILA, Philippines – Generika-Ayala vented its ire on Marinerang Pilipina, booking a 25-18, 25-15, 25-23 triumph in the 2019 Philippine Superliga (PSL) All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

After getting blown out by F2 Logistics, 12-25, 21-25, 17-25, in the opener last Saturday, the Lifesavers bounced back to barge into the win column while sending the Lady Skippers to their second straight loss in one hour and 23 minutes.

Patty Orendain, who struggled in their opener, put up an all-around performance for Generika-Ayala with 18 points off 15 attacks, a pair of aces and a block, along with 16 digs and eight excellent receptions.

Ria Meneses and Fiola Ceballos had 11 points each, while Angeli Araneta added eight markers for the Lifesavers, who also drew impressive performance from setter Jamie Lavitoria and libero Kath Arado.

"This win is a huge help for us," said Generika-Ayala head coach Sherwin Meneses. "I'm glad we managed to recover from our first game, as it was an ugly defeat for us."

"I hope that we could sustain this good morale for our next matches," he added.

The Lifesavers took the first two sets comfortably, and were up 23-16 in the third following an attack by Mean Mendrez.

But the Lady Skippers, fueled by Dimdim Pacres and Chiara Permentilla, unleashed a 7-1 run to cut the deficit to one point as Mendrez committed an attack error.

Ceballos came to Generika's rescue and denied the expansion team's comeback hopes.

Generika-Ayala had eight kill blocks on Marinerang Pilipina and outmuscled the expansion team in spiking with a 43-31 differential.

Pacres was the lone double-digits scorer with 11 points while Permentilla scored seven markers off the bench for the Lady Skippers, who suffered their second three-set defeat following an opening-day loss to Sta. Lucia.
