In an episode of Upfront, volleyball couple Deanna Wong and Jema Galanza participated in a "Bag Raid," where they revealed the stories behind their must-haves.
Aside from the usual -- toiletries, wallets, cellphones -- Wong also showed off a pair of shoes that was quite meaningful for her.
"It belongs to Ate Ly," Wong said of the pair. "Noong season kasi, nagte-training sila ni Ate Jia (Morado) sa amin. Bigla niya sinabi, ano daw shoe size ko."
Valdez, who led Ateneo de Manila University to two UAAP women's volleyball crowns in her celebrated career, lent the pair to Wong and it wound up bringing the setter some luck.
According to the former Ateneo playmaker, she wore the shoes in Game 2 of their UAAP Season 81 finals series against University of Santo Tomas, which they won in four sets. She wore them again in Game 3, where they swept the Golden Tigresses to clinch the title.
"Parang swerte siya na shoes," Wong said.
