esports: PH’s TNC Predator among Southeast Asian qualifiers for Epicenter Major

All-Filipino DoTA 2 Team TNC Predator barged its way into the Epicenter Major in Moscow, after defeating MYSG+AU in the Southeast Asian qualifiers of the tournament.

TNC defeated MYSG+AU, 1-0, to finish the tourney with a 6-1 record. TNC Predator is the first Southeast Asian team to qualify for the Major, with the other one yet to be determined.


Geek Fam, a Malaysian squad which includes a mix of Malaysian, Singaporean and Filipino players, handed TNC Predator its only loss in the qualifier, 1-0, on Thursday.

Among the squad's biggest wins was an upset on Fnatic, which parades a mix of Filipino, Malaysian, and Thai players, after an epic comeback from the Filipino team to break into the top seed.

The Epicenter Major the last tournament on the DoTA Pro Circuit, considered the professional tournament format system of DoTA.

A good standing in the Epicenter Major merits the chance for TNC to be invited back into the The International, the biggest DOTA event organized by Valve, the game's developers.

The International will be held in Shanghai from August 16 to 25.
