San Miguel coach Leo Austria has praised his team following their fifth consecutive all-Filipino title victory.
He said the team played so well over the years that they made him look really good.
“Malaking pasasalamat ko sa team namin, mula sa utility hanggang sa management,” said Austria after their historic fifth Philippine Cup victory. It was his seventh PBA title as a coach.
“I'm so thankful to the players. We had a lot of struggles, but now were winning a lot in history. Dahil sa kanila nagmukha akong magaling na coach.”
He also paid tribute to his starting lineup, which has been the core of his championship-winning team. This include Chris Ross, Marcio Lassiter, Arwind Santos, June Mar Fajardo and Alex Cabagnot.
“This First 5, they know, alam na nila kung paanong manalo especially in championships,” said Austria. “Whatever happens I keep my trust on them… These 5 players gave us a lot of championships.”
The coach also acknowledged the role of the bench for their supporting role in the series.
“These First 5 can not win game if not for the help from the players from the bench,” he said.
