MANILA -- Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) commissioner Kenneth Duremdes hushed critics for blasting the possible inclusion of actors Gerald Anderson and Xian Lim in the league.
A former PBA great, Duremdes told FOXSports that the actors knew what they are getting into.
“The league is for all Pinoy basketball players. Kaya nga 'yung tagline natin ay ‘Liga ng Bawat Pilipino,’” Duremdes quipped.
He added that the knows for a fact that Anderson could play hoops because he once played with the actor. “I’ve played with Gerald (Anderson) before and he can play sa commercial leagues. The same goes for Xian,” he said.
Duremdes appealed to basketball fans to look past their celebrity status and consider their basketball skills.
The Marikina Shoemasters has reportedly signed Anderson, while Lim was seen trying out for the Mandaluyong El Tigre.
The Shoemasters and El Tigre are among the expansion teams of the MPBL.
