MANILA, Philippines -- The Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings got together for a good cause, as they repacked masks that will be distributed to hospitals around the country.
Several Ginebra players posted about the initiative on social media, with veteran point guard LA Tenorio explaining that it was part of San Miguel Corp.'s donation of personal protective equipment for medical frontliners.
Japeth Aguilar said he enjoyed the opportunity not just to help but also to catch up with his teammates.
"We're glad to help our frontliners in our own little way," he also said. "Keep safe everyone, hopefully kaunting tiis na lang."
Ginebra has yet to play a game in the PBA All-Filipino Cup, as the league suspended all of its activities a couple of days after opening the season on March 8.
Several of its players have been doing their part to help frontliners during the COVID-19 pandemic, with Aguilar and his wife, Cassandra, among the first athletes to raise funds to buy masks. Recently, star guard Stanley Pringle also donated groceries to the PBA office, together with Meralco's Chris Newsome, NorthPort's Sean Anthony, and Kelly Nabong.
