MANILA, Philippines -- Barangay Ginebra star Stanley Pringle has donated P150,000 to the PBA's funds for frontliners and health care workers.
Gillette, a major sponsor of the league, added P500,000 to boost the PBA's initial fund of P1 million allocated by the Board of Governors.
Pringle also teamed up with Kelly Nabong to donate bags of rice and groceries, which were brought directly to the league office.
"Like Gillette, sa PBA na ipinagkatiwala nila Pringle at Nabong 'yung donations nila para iparating sa mga nangangailangan," PBA commissioner Willie Marcial told the league website. "I'm deeply touched by their kindness."
Last April 12, Pringle joined his neighbors in Eastwood in expressing their appreciation for frontliners.
Pringle and Nabong are just the latest players to extend a helping hand, as several PBA stars are already doing what they can to raise funds and donate personal protective equipment (PPEs) for the country's health care workers.
"I'm proud of our guys," the commissioner said.
The PBA has already donated PPEs to several hospitals as the country grapples with the COVID-19 pandemic, and they are preparing a second wave of donations.
"For our own drive, dinadala natin ang tulong doon sa mga lugar na nilalaruan natin at doon sa mga nagre-request sa atin," Marcial said.
After bringing supplies to hospitals in Pasig, Antipolo and Quezon City, the league intends to bring PPEs to Pasay City, the Philippine Veterans Hospital, and the Philippine National Police as well.
