MANILA, Philippines -- Sweet-shooting guard Ed Daquioag captured the Cignal-PBA Press Corps Player of the week nod after playing a major role in Rain or Shine's 2-0 series lead over Magnolia in their 2019 PBA Philippine Cup semifinals.

The former University of Santo Tomas (UST) standout averaged 14.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in the first two games of the series.

Daquioag provided a scoring boost off the bench for the second-seeded Elasto Painters in Game 1, wherein he finished with 10 points, 3 boards, and an assist in their 84-77 win.

He scored four points late in the third quarter when the Elasto Painters began asserting themselves following a poor first-half shooting.

The 6-foot-1 Daquioag added another two-point basket in the fourth quarter, joining hands with veterans Beau Belga and Gabe Norwood in disposing of the Pambansang Manok to take the opening game of the best-of-seven semifinals.

In Game 2, Daquioag was inserted to the starting line-up and immediately proved his worth. He scored 19 points – built on 3 3-pointers – as Rain or Shine knocked down 16 triples in a 93-80 victory.

The E-Painters will try for a 3-0 lead on Tuesday.

Daquiaog beat Norwood and the San Miguel trio of June Mar Fajardo, Alex Cabagnot, and Christian Standhardinger for the weekly award, for the period of April 9 to 14.
