The Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee is looking for about 12,000 volunteers to help with the local hosting of the Games in November.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
"This is a part of the whole picture of organizing and hosting the Games. We have targeted 12,000 volunteers to cater to Clark, Subic, Metro Manila and other areas in Southern Luzon," said PHISGOC executive director Ramon Suzara in a report by ABS-CBN Sports.
“Maybe to 13,000 to 15,000 depending on the needs that we have.”
The volunteers will be mobilized in different venues that will host the 56 sports and 529 events of the 30th SEA Games. This includes Metro Manila, Subic, Bulacan, Tarlac, La Union, Tagaytay, and Batangas.
Suzara said officials are targeting mainly students and teachers. They are also tapping the help of the National Youth Commission and the local government to enlist out-of-school youths.
Volunteers will be given uniforms, transportation, allowance and meals for an 8-hour shift. Game venues will also have areas for dining and resting for the volunteer workforce.
About P100 million to P150 million will be allotted for the program, which will come from the P5 billion budget from the supposed 2019 national budget.
