Barangay Ginebra and Magnolia will begin their Manila Clasico face off on Saturday in their best-of-3 quarterfinals duel at the MOA Arena in Pasay City.
Ginebra coach Tim Cone said it will be a crucial showdown for both squads.
The Hotshots and the Gin Kings found themselves locked in a quarters pairing after finishing at No. 6 and No. 3, respectively, after the eliminations.
"More than it being the Manila Clasico, it's the first game of a short series, therefore that makes it crucial for both teams," said Cone in the PBA website.
Magnolia coach Chito Victolero is expecting interesting match up.
"I do believe we're peaking at the right time and we're looking forward to our battle with Ginebra," said Victolero.
Tip off will be at 6:30 p.m.
In the 4:30 p.m. clash, San Miguel and TNT KaTropa will figure in their own race-to-2 quarters series.
The Texters are entering the round as the fourth-seeded team, while the defending champion Beermen were seeded fifth.
Providing an interesting subplot in the series is Terrence Romeo who will face his former team in the playoffs for the first time.
