CALASIAO, Pangasinan -- (UPDATED) PJ Simon of Magnolia Hotshots is the new 3-point shooting king after lording over 11 other marksmen in the league during the 2019 PBA All-Star Weekend at the Calasiao Sports Complex on Friday.

Simon registered 17 total points in the final round to beat Robert Bolick of Northport (16 points) and Philip Paniamogan (14 points) of NLEX en route to the maiden crown.

Simon’s win also denied old pal and defending champion James Yap of the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters of back-to-back titles.

“To be honest, di ko talaga in-expect. Super thankful ako. Kahit nasa twilight na kami ng career namin, nabigyan pa rin ng pagkakataon na makasali sa 3-point shootout,” Simon said.

Bolick had the chance to escape with the title after knocking down four straight in the last rack, but missed the last two-point money ball to settle as second best.

He also toppled other elite shooters of the league such as TNT’s RR Pogoy and Marcio Lassiter of San Miguel Beermen.

Other cagers who joined the sideline activity were Matthew Wright (Phoenix), Baser Amer (Meralco), Kevin Ferrer (Ginebra), Mike Digregorio (Blackwater), Reden Celda (Columbian), and Simon Enciso (Alaska).
