MANILA -- Barangay Ginebra has regained the upper hand in Manila Clasico.
The Gin Kings won the first rivalry game of the year, taking down Magnolia in overtime in the Philippine Cup Sunday at the Big Dome, 97-93.

Nevertheless, it was the Gin Kings that took the win to start Manila Clasico 2019 in their favor. More importantly, Ginebra won a second straight game for 5-3 record.
Up six in regulation, Ginebra surrendered back-to-back booming triples to Jio Jalalon in the final 38 seconds.
In the final play of the fourth, LA Tenorio missed the game-winner and the game would need an extra five minutes to finish.
Come the overtime period, Scottie Thompson hit a booming triple of his own inside the last two minutes while Japeth Aguilar came through on the defensive end twice and connected on a fastbreak dunk as the Gin Kings finally managed to pull away for good.
Thompson scored a career-high 27 points to lead Ginebra. He also had 11 rebounds and five assists.
