There's a reason why Brandon Vera is looking very trim these days.

The ONE heavyweight champion is beginning to cut his weight as he prepares to challenge whoever the light heavyweight champion is this October.

"I'm cutting weight now to I can start training on a heavy load in this weight class," said Vera during his visit to ABS-CBN Sports and Action studio on Friday.

Two-division champion "Burmese Python" Aung La N Sang currently holds the ONE light heavyweight title.

Vera said he needs to shed the excess pounds early to make sure he has no problem performing at a weight class he last fought in 5 years ago.

"Cutting the weight is no problem, performing at that weight and having the energy and stamina has always been my problem," said the Filipino-American.

Vera, whose built is suited for both the heavyweight and light heavyweight classes, said being 2-division champion has always been his goal as a fighter.

"It's something I always wanted to do. Hold 2 belts in 2 weight classes," he said. "I want to be a legacy holder, I want to be a legend. For me, this is another goal, another title to work for and attain."

"It's part of the dream ever since."
