A listless San Miguel Alab Pilipinas got steamrolled by the Macau Black Bears 116-103 on Wednesday in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) at the University of Macau Sports Complex.
The Black Bears took advantage of Alab’s off night, quickly establishing a 38-11 lead in the first quarter.
They led by as many as 31 points and the defending champions could not recover from that.
Renaldo Balkman and company managed to cut the deficit to 12 points in the final quarter, but that the closest Alab could get.
It was Alab’s worst defeat this season. The Philippine club, which shot only 5-of-18 from the 3-point area, fell to its fourth defeat in 20 games.
Balkman finished with 33 points and 11 rebounds. PJ Ramos and Ray Parks added 19 and 18 points, respectively.
