Although Magnolia succumbed to a 75-74 defeat to Rain or Shine last Wednesday, coach Chito Victolero said he has many reasons to be happy.
He said it was their best game in their past 3 outings.
"It's much better compared to our last two games, but talo pa rin. But I'm very happy sa nilaro namin," the reigning Coach of the Year said in PBA.ph.
Victolero said they lost against the James Yap-led Rain or Shine due to breaks of the game.
The Hotshots seemed headed to their first win in 3 games when Paul Lee sank a basket that gave Magnolia a 74-72 lead with 6.1 seconds remaining in the clock.
But Yap converted a 3-point play that doomed the Hotshots in the final 3.1 seconds.
"Pangalawa nang game na sa defensive breaks (nagkatalo). Even sa TNT ganoon din," said Victolero, referring to their 75-80 overtime defeat to the KaTropa last February 3.
Victolero said he is happy that his players are now finding their groove. But he can't help but worry as the PBA takes a two-week break to support Gilas Pilipinas in the last window of the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
"Medyo okay na hindi okay. Okay kasi medyo nakakabalik na yung players, ang problema is break na naman. We can't afford to lose our timing and rhythm.”
