MANILA -- Rain or Shine will have its eyes on the twice-to-beat bonus in the PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals when it squares off against Magnolia on Wednesday.
The Elasto Painters are already assured of a spot in the playoffs following three straight wins. They are currently on top of the heap with a 6-1 record.
But Rain or Shine coach Caloy Garcia said this does not mean they will stop there. He wants his team to go on and clinch a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinal round.
"We just have to make the best out of it," Garcia told the PBA website. "We must stick together as a team and we must continue playing hard."
Magnolia, on the other hand, is coming off a two-game slide following a long rest after their PBA Governors Cup title win.
But even so, Garcia remains wary of the struggling Hotshots.
"They became rusty lalo na at kababalik lang nila sa laro. Pero gagaling at gagaling uli ;yan. Baka magaling na sila uli by the time we play them," he said.
The game will take place at 7 p.m. at MOA Arena in Pasay City, following the 4:30 p.m. tussle between Blackwater and Alaska.
The Aces, meanwhile, are looking for a second straight win in three games against the Elite, which hopes to snap a three-game skid.
"Big game for both teams," said Alaska coach Alex Compton.
"As always we will really be focusing on team defense first and hope that that will be a catalyst for us in this game."
The game will take place before the PBA goes on a two-week break for the FIBA World Cup Asian qualifiers.
