Renaldo Balkman scored 37 points, and San Miguel Alab Pilipinas rode a critical run in the fourth quarter to beat Macau Black Bears 106-99 in the ASEAN Basketball League at FilOil Flying V in San Juan on Friday.
The win raised the Filipino club's record to 7-2, while Macau fell to 6-5.
Holding on to a 90-88 lead less than 5 minutes left in the game, Alab used a 16-3 blast to cut loose from Black Bears and get back to its winning ways after a narrow defeat to Formosa Dreamers in Taiwan on Sunday.
Balkman missed only five of his 19 shots, and added 9 rebounds and 4 steals.
PJ Ramos registered 21 points and 14 rebounds, while Ray Parks added 13 points for Alab, which stayed first in the standings because of winning percentage despite Saigon Heat, Formosa and Hong Kong Eastern Basketball Team having more victories.
Coach Jimmy Alapag and his crew next play on Sunday, January 20, when they take on Thailand club Mono Vampire in a rematch of last year's finals.
