Nes Pamilar, multi-titled women’s volleyball coach, passes away

MANILA—Multi-titled volleyball coach Ernesto “Nes” Pamilar passed away Saturday morning.

Pamilar, 52, died of heart failure. He underwent a heart bypass operation in November 2017 and returned to coaching after recovery.

The amiable mentor steered Far Eastern University to its last UAAP women’s volleyball title in Season 70, then led by ace spiker Rachel Ann Daquis. Pamilar also helped improve the volleyball program of Letran in the NCAA.

He was head coach of the De La Salle University men’s team two years ago. Pamilar was the head coach of the San Beda University men’s team and called the shots for the Red Spikers last Tuesday in a five-set loss to San Sebastian College.

He also handled various club teams including the successful Cagayan Valley Lady Rising Suns that twice ruled the defunct Shakey’s V-League and the Cagayan Friendship Games. He was the coach of Tacloban in the Premier Volleyball League.

Details of his wake and interment are yet to be announced.

He is survived by his wife and four children.
