MANILA, Philippines -- Bacolod-Master Sardines kept its playoff chances alive by holding off Basilan-Jumbo Plastic, 96-89, on Saturday in the 2019-20 Chooks-to-Go/MPBL Lakan Cup at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
Pao Javelona led the way for Bacolod with 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists and helped improve his team's record to 9-16, which is good for 11th spot in the Southern Division.
Basilan fought to within 2 points, following a triple from Allyn Bulanadi and an and-one play by Jay Collado midway in the fourth.
But Ben Adamos and Yankie Haruna came through and kept Bacolod afloat by maintaining a 6-point lead.
Bulanadi and Irven Palencia mounted another rally for Basilan, however, Jeric Cañada and Javelona were quick to put out the fire by connecting back-to-back threes.
Bulanadi finished with 33 points as Basilan fell to 16-10.
In the other game, San Juan Knights-Go for Gold beat Pasig-Sta. Lucia Realtors, 109-99.
John Wilson paced the Knights with 24 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.
