Following their first defeat of the season, San Miguel Alab Pilipinas bounced back with a statement win against Hongkong Eastern Lions in the ASEAN Basketball League on Friday.
PJ Ramos was impressive with 31 points including 3 triples to go with 12 rebounds and 7 assists.
But it was Ray Parks Jr. who took on the leadership role with his best game so far of the season. The 2-time league Most Valuable Player tallied 24 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists, a big improvement from his 5-point outing in a 72-71 loss to the Westsports Malaysia Dragons last Wednesday.
Alab improved their record to 6-1, while handing Eastern's fifth defeat in 12 games.
“We had a bad game, we lost. This (win) is just a testament of character, the adversity we had to handle in this game against Hongkong. We locked it in and it's just a great team win,” Parks said.
It was all Alab from the get-go, firing at will against Lions while holding the visitors to just 32 points in the first half.
Alab eventually widened the gap to as many as 21 points, before allowing Hong Kong to cut the deficit to just 12 at the final buzzer.
The defending champions also got 10 points from Lawrence Domingo, and 8 each from Renaldo Balkman and Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser.
Hongkong got 20 points from Marcus Elliot and 19 from O'Darien Bassett.
