The Ateneo Lady Eagles left for Osaka on Saturday to undergo intensive training a month before the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament begins.

Wanting to rebound from a dismal finish last season, the Lady Eagles, now coached by Oliver Almandro, will train in Japan until January 16, according to ABS-CBN Sports.

Now spearheaded by Bea De Leon, Ponggay Gaston, Maddie Madayag and Kat Tolentino, the Lady Eagles will also test themselves in a series of tune-ups against local Japanese teams.

Ateneo failed to advance to the finals last year, prompting Tai Bundit’s exit from the prestigious squad.

The Lady Eagles recently participated in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference under the Motolite banner, finishing second to powerhouse team Creamline led by former Ateneo stars Alyssa Valdez and setter Jia Morado.
