Filipina Betty Romero has been fighting for her life after being diagnosed with breast cancer. The 71-year-old lola just wants to live life to the fullest.
She crossed off one big bucket list entry recently after seeing her favorite Filipino celebrities at ASAP Natin ‘To Bay Area, the biggest Filipino concert in America in celebration of The Filipino Channel’s 25th anniversary.
Her health problems have taken a toll on Lola Betty, who continues to receive cancer treatment. But that didn’t stop her from coming all the way to the San Jose SAP Center to experience pure Philippine entertainment with the country’s biggest stars.
“Ito na siguro ang pinakamasayang araw sa buhay ko,” she said.
(This might just be the happiest day of my life.)
For about four hours, Lola Betty got to experience the "All-Sunday Afternoon Party" or ASAP with more than 50 Kapamilya stars. That’s two full-length live ASAP episodes for the price of one.
"Thank you so much at kayo’y magpapasaya na naman sa amin (that you will make us happy again),” she said.
The Pangasinan native came to the US in 1997 to seek a better life. She worked in one of the canneries in Alaska before cancer struck and almost put her life on hold.
When she told her family of her wish to see ASAP Live, they moved mountains to make her dreams come true.
“We couldn’t get floor tickets, but we got the best tickets we can. So we’re all very happy to be here today to make Mama very happy today,” said her daughter-in-law Lally Reyes.
Kapamilya fans can also catch ASAP Natin ‘to Bay Area on August 11 and 18 on The Filipino Channel.
Meanwhile, Lola Betty said next on her bucket list are travels to the Philippines to visit family as well as a visit to Hawaii for the very first time.
