The Filipina shot dead by her ex-husband in Las Vegas, Nevada will be buried in her hometown in Tarlac City on Saturday.
Karen Gotidoc Lopez, 34, was shot in the chest by her ex-husband Fernando Lopez, during an altercation in the east side neighborhood of Las Vegas last April 26th.
Fernando then turned the gun on himself after shooting his ex-wife.
The victim's family said she filed many police reports during her rocky marriage, accusing her husband of domestic abuse, said her cousin, Nancy Gotidoc.
The family is grateful for the help and assistance of the Philippine government as well as friends who helped fund the repatriation of Lopez's remains.
Gotidoc advised Filipinas going through the same problem to reach out to the community.
The Lopez couple was married for three years before divorcing in 2018. They have a four-year-old son.
Karen was described as a hard worker while she was part of the housekeeping department of one of the MGM properties. She’s also been praised as a good provider to her family.
“She will do anything for you, she is a hero, for me she is a hero, hero of her family,” said her co-worker Narsy Benjamin.
