MANILA - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Wednesday 24 more Filipinos abroad were sick with COVID-19, raising the total tally of overseas infections among Filipino nationals to 2,455.

The respiratory illness has also killed 4 more overseas Filipinos, bringing the death toll to 284, the agency said.

The number of those who survived from COVID-19 is also up by 9 to 858, it added.

“Despite the decrease in the daily rate of recoveries reported by the DFA through its Foreign Service Posts today, the total number of overseas Filipinos who recovered from COVID-19 at 858 cases is now 3 times more than the total fatalities at 284 and comprises almost 35 percent of the total confirmed cases,” the DFA said in a statement.

To date, some 1,313 Filipino patients abroad are undergoing treatment for COVID-19, broken down as follows by region: 125 in the Asia Pacific Region, 434 in Europe, 566 in the Middle East and Africa, and 188 in the Americas.

In the Philippines, the COVID-19 has so far sickened 13,221 people, with 842 deaths and 2,932 recoveries.
