LAS VEGAS, Nevada – A Filipino-American woman was found guilty last week for killing her pregnant sister-in-law almost 5 years ago.
Members of the jury took only about 20 minutes to deliberate and come out with the verdict on 35-year-old Elinor Indico.
“When the DA [District Attorney] called me and said hey this is the outcome, my heart sank, not in joyful scenario but more like I just relived the fact that I just lost my wife, my baby, and now, I lost my sister too,” her brother, Aris Indico said.
Elinor was found guilty on charges of open murder with a deadly weapon, manslaughter by killing an unborn child, and guilty on abuse of children and neglect.
In October 2013, Aris’ wife, 9-months pregnant Ashley Indico, was brutally murdered in her Las Vegas apartment. Elinor claimed it was self-defense.
Elinor was taken in by her brother while she was going through rough times.
“Living this burden for the rest of my life is the battle I've been fighting for,” said Aris.
Elinor could be spending the rest of her life in prison without the possibility of parole.
“She is my sister no matter what. She is my blood no matter what. Would I forget about it? No. Would I accept that forgiveness? No,” he said.
Elinor remains in jail as she awaits sentencing on June 26 of this year.
