MANILA - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Wednesday said 77 more Filipinos abroad were sick with COVID-19, raising the total tally of overseas infections among Filipino nationals to 2,310.
The highly-contagious disease has also killed 8 more overseas Filipinos, bringing the death toll to 269, the agency said.
The number of those who recovered from COVID-19 is also up by 88 to 757, it added.
“Despite the increase in today’s confirmed cases compared to yesterday’s numbers, the DFA notes that the daily rate of recoveries increased to 13.15 percent, making its numbers now over half of the total number of patients undergoing treatment and remaining more than twice than the total fatalities,” the DFA said in a statement.
To date, 1,284 COVID-19 Filipino patients abroad are undergoing treatment, broken down as follows by region: 140 in the Asia Pacific Region, 394 in Europe, 557 in the Middle East and Africa, and 193 in the Americas.
In the Philippines, the COVID-19 has so far sickened 11,618 people, with 772 deaths and 2,251 recoveries.
