MANILA - An overseas Filipino worker who was tied to a tree by her employer in Saudi Arabia is now back on Philippine soil, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Friday.
"OFW Lovely Acosta Baruelo from Saudi Arabia arrived in Manila at 8:55 PM on 9 May 2019," DFA said in a statement.
A picture of the Pinay OFW tied to a tree made the rounds on Facebook with fellow Filipinos asking for help on her behalf.
The case of the Pinay was referred to the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh on May 9 and she was repatriated on the same day, the DFA said.
"OFW Baruelo was allegedly punished by her employer by being tied to a tree," DFA said.
