MANILA - The Philippine Embassy in Iraq announced that it sent home 7 Filipinos who were victims of illegal trafficking.
The Pinoys ran to the embassy between February and April of this year.
"We thank everyone, notably our Iraqi friends, who helped us during their three-month long stay especially those who provided them with clothes, luggage and shoes," the embassy wrote on its Facebook page.
Many of the rescued Filipinos had nothing but the clothes they were wearing when they arrived at the embassy.
The embassy also extended its gratitude to the people who visited the Pinoys and gave then "kind words and counseling."
"Lastly, we thank each of the runaways for helping out each other especially on times when Embassy personnel had to fly to other cases from up north in Erbil down south to Basra," the post said.
